End of Summer Blooms

I love summer and gardening.  My yard is at its peak in May-July each year; however, there are still some good blooms to enjoy into August and September.  One of my favorite flowers, Cosmos, are in full bloom right now!  In fact, they were going SO crazy along the entry to my front door, I had to put this little fence up to corral them in.  My husband thought I should cut them back...  now that's just crazy-talk!!

This area is fairly newly planted.  A few months ago I decided to pull all of the boxwoods that were lining this planter.  I was able to give them to a friend and they are now thriving in her backyard.

We already had this amazing Weeping Cherry and Tree Peony.  They both bloom in early Spring.

Is there anything prettier than a clematis climbing up a birdhouse and blooming?

Here it is a few weeks after I planted the area.  Many of the flowers that were blooming back in May are done now, but the Cosmos are happy to keep going!

And because I love birdhouses, I had to throw this picture in.   The fern is a volunteer.  I love how it's growing around the birdhouse.

What are your favorite flowers?

Thanks for your visit!

Spring in the Front Yard and a Ramsign Giveaway!

A few weeks ago I removed a boxwood hedge that was blocking off an area by our front door.  Although they were healthy, they had gotten way too big and it was time for them to go!

Luckily, I have a friend who wanted them.  I was so glad.  They were huge and would be a nice addition to their yard.

So out with the old....

And in with new perennials and annuals.  And in with the Weeping Cherry (that was there all along) blooming like crazy!  :)

I am very excited to watch this area grow this summer.

Now on to the Giveaway!

Spring is Springing to Life!

I love spring blooms!  We had 6" of snow on Friday, but today it's sunny and beautiful.  The Weeping Cherry tree right by our front door is flowering like crazy.

The daffodils are a welcome sight when not much else has come to life again yet in the area along the driveway.

I love the tiny grape hyacinth and anemones.

I'm thinking that these tracks that I found this morning are not from the Easter Bunny...  That's a big reason why I don't plant tulips.  Deer love tulips!

With the nicer weather, I'm happy to be able to plant flowers by the front door; although I think deer like pansies too. I hope having them so close to the front door will deter them from munching on the blooms.

Thanks for your visit.  Happy Easter and Happy Spring!

Those Pesky April Showers Did Promise May Flowers

We've finally made it to May and finally some things in my yard are blooming!

Just a couple of weeks ago, my yard looked like this.  Yes, in April...

Now it looks like this:

The best part is that my office is right there, so I get to look right out at this beauty.

I absolutely love this peony right under the weeping cherry.

And since it's almost Mother's Day, in honor of my Mom who loved clematis, here is what was right out my kitchen window of my old house.  Even the sweet woodruff were blooming like crazy underneath it.  It was a beautiful sight!

I hope everything is blooming in your yards!  I wish everyone an early very Happy Mother's Day!

Thanks for visiting!
