New Kitchen Cabinets

We don't have a huge kitchen and had a desk area that we weren't really using, so we decided to do a bit of a remodel.   We really wanted more storage and I'm lucky enough to have a husband who can make just about anything!

Here's what it looked like before.  It was very nice and and good place to put some collectibles, but was not being utilized as much as it could have been.

I have an office right near the kitchen, so really didn't need a desk area right here.

So out the desk and upper cabinet went to Habitat for Humanity's Restore for someone else to use...

And into the garage my husband went to start creating a new one.

His favorite part of it--easy access wine storage!

Adding new crown moulding.  I am so impressed how he matched everything so well to the existing cabinets.

There's actually some extra room on the shelves right now.    I'm so happy with it.

Thanks for your visit!

Pam

Your husband does amazing woodwork. The cabinet looks like it was always there. It's so much better than having a desk.

  22. Hi darling, oh my gosh what an incredible difference. I know you love the extra storage.. this gets me to thinking I have the desk in the kitchen probably 6' long and the cabinet above, I could easily turn it into a buffet area instead of the desk. EXCEPT: the phone sits there, the laptop for me in the evenings and the list goes on and on.. change is very hard on Mr. P right now.. so I'll have to keep this idea in the back of my mind.. love your change.. hugs ~lynne~

  23. Beautiful & informative, lol. I'm rearranging my kitchen now..
If each man could have his own house with a super-designed kitchen, a large garden to cultivate and healthy surroundings - then, I think, there will be for them a better opportunity of a happy family life.
    Best Wishes to all-

  25. You made the right decision, Pam! The new cabinet definitely suits your kitchen. Given the limited space of the kitchen, the cabinet is perfect to store more kitchen wares and collectibles. And it is perfect for the fridge. Now you don’t have to worry about shelf shortage since you have plenty of cabinets where you can put all your kitchen stuff.
